Abstract
Anthropologically speaking, interrelation between text and several practices of muslim community in Indonesia (that prove their obedience to the Islamic norms and official doctrine), is in fact heterodox. This premise verifies various elements of the local culture that always interweave and work together in dialogue through rituals and symbols. In shaping this new perspective of Anthropology of Islam, some Islamisists made claim the major tasks of ethnographers to depicts Islam with diverse expressions of meaning, emotion, as well feeling, as practiced by Muslims, whom are the object of authority and the text. This point of view shows the importance of the study of the texts in a broader ethnographic process. The role of the later study is to strengthen the cultural anthropology of the Muslim community and at the same time discovery the power and authority of the text as an interpretive resources and practices for muslim communities.
Abstrak
Secara antropologis hubungan antara teks dengan praktik dari komunitas muslim di Indonesia (ditunjukkan urgensinya terutama dari kepatuhan terhadap norma dan doktrin formal agama), faktanya bersifat heterodoks. Premis ini dibuktikan melalui beberapa elemen dari budaya setempat yang selalu mewarnai setap praktik keberagamaan dari tradisi umat islam. Untuk dapat membentuk sebuah rangkaian antropologi Islam sebagai sebuah perspektif baru, para ahli antropologi Islam di Indonesia menguraikan beberapa tugas utama dari para etnografer untuk menggambarkan Islam melalui kepelbagaian ekspresinya, baik dari segi makna, perasaan, bahkan juga kelekatan emosi yang tercipta di dalam praktik keberagamaan umat islam, yang menjadi objek otoritas dari teks di dalam Islam. Cara pandang ini memperlihatkan pentingnya study teks melalui metode etnografis. Peran dari studi ini adalah untuk memperkuat antropologi budaya dari komunitas muslim dan pada saat yang sama akan membuka diskursus kekuasaan dan wewenang (power and authority) dari teks sebagai sumber interpretative dan praksis dari umat muslim.
