Abstract
This paper will explain hijrah as a term trend in terms of aspects of Islamic normativity. The historical roots of the hijrah event to the present phenomenon begin with the description of the hijrah that is enshrined in the Qur’an. Besides that, the Prophet’s hadith. domiciled to explain the historic event comprehensively will be the second source of information. With a descriptive analysis approach whose data is collected from commentary and hadith literature, this paper will successively explore from the description of the hijrah terminology based on the linguistic point of view, followed by the statements of the scholars in the form of commentaries and sharia. The author concludes in general there is no meaning and practice of hijrah with the argument “transformation of lifestyle from negative direction to positive direction without being accompanied by physical migration and then labeling individuals or communities as Muhājirīn”. However, some scholars provide an explanation that hijrah is not only interpreted territorial migration but can also mean a metaphor that is the migration of the mind and birth. The most passionate figure to emphasize with this terminology is Sayyid Qutub, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood movement. Upon his reading of the meaning of hijrah in the Qur’an, various “Islamist” movements and campaigns emerged about this hijrah.

Abstrak
Tulisan ini akan menjelaskan hijrah sebagai tren istilah ditinjau dari aspek normativitas Islam. Akar historis peristiwa hijrah hingga menjadi fenomena masa kini berawal dari keterangan hijrah yang diabadikan dalam Alquran. Selain itu, Hadis Nabi saw. berkedudukan menjelaskan peristiwa bersejarah tersebut secara komprehensif akan menjadi sumber informasi kedua. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif analisis yang datanya dikumpulkan dari literatur tafsir dan hadis, tulisan ini akan berturut-turut mengupas mulai dari uraian terminologi hijrah berdasarkan sudut pandang linguistik, dilanjutkan dengan keterangan para ulama dalam bentuk uraian tafsir dan syarah. Penulis berkesimpulan secara umum tidak ada makna dan praktik hijrah dengan argumen “transformasi pola hidup dari arah negatif menuju ke arah positif tanpa disertai dengan migrasi secara fisik lalu melakukan labeling individu atau komunitas sebagai kaum Muhājirīn”.Akan tetapi sebagian ulama memberikan penjelasan bahwa hijrah tidak hanya dimaknai migrasi teritorial tetapi juga dapat bermakna metafor yakni hijrah batin dan lahir. Tokoh yang paling getol menegaskan dengan terminologi tersebut adalah Sayyid Qutub pendiri gerakan Ikhwanul Muslimin. Atas pembacaannya terhadap makna hijrah dalam Alquran, kemudian muncul berbagai gerakan dan kampanye “Islamis” mengenai hijrah ini.
