Abstrack
The study of authenticity, origin, and the history of hadith has become an interesting topic and even a debate from the beginning of Islam up to now, since it concerns on the authenticity of Islamic teachings. Among recent theories in contemporary criticism of contemporary hadith is the common link theory. this study purposes to find out how to work and understand the implications of the theory to the historic Hadith of the Prophet. The result of this study indicates that common link theory affects the source or origin of hadith‟s transmitters (rawi). Differences in interpreting common links determine the channel of transmitter of hadith.

Abstrak
Studi tentang otentisitas, asal, dan sejarah riwayat hadis merupakan tema menarik, bahkan karena ia berhubungan erat dengan otentisitas ajaran Islam, ia pun telah menjadi bahan perdebatan sejak masa awal Islam hingga kini.
